POP @ Computing Frontiers 2025

Wednesday, May 28, 2025

During the last week of May, we participated in the 22nd ACM International Conference on Computing Frontiers (CF' 25) in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy. As part of a special session on Collaborative Projects, we presented our paper titled "POP3: Advancing HPC Performance and Productivity" to a broad research audience. Our presentation highlighted the long-term mission of POP CoE and its partners, the services that we offer, key achievements from previous phases, specific goals of POP3 (e.g., collaboration with other CoEs), co-design activities, development of tools and methodology, and last but not least the training opportunities and online learning material. Following the talk, there was a short time for a discussion with the people in the room about our work. The attendees were clearly interested in the details of the POP services.

Earlier in the session, our partner CoEs - MaX and SPACE - presented their papers and projects to the audience mentioning also the collaboration with POP and the benefits of applying the POP methodology to their work.

The conference was well-organized and the atmosphere was very friendly there. It brought together domain experts, researchers, and PhD students from across Europe and beyond. The program covered many hot topics in computer science, including various applications of artificial intelligence, RISC-V development, high-performance computing, quantum computing, photonic computing, cybersecurity, open-source hardware development, internet of things, FPGAs, sustainable computing, and many more. Overall, participating in Computing Frontiers 2025 was an enriching experience for us.
